- In his younger years, Kaoru is a lot harsher of a person. He's not as considerate as he is when he's older, and tends to be pretty curt if you upset him..

- Because Kaoru comes from a rather wealthy family, he can be kind of ignorant to the fact that other people didn't come from the same background as him.

- Kaoru's mother passed about a year or so prior to him attending Yumenosaki. He would have been around 14 at the time.

- He has severe issues with authority, and will go out of his way to disobey an order if he dislikes the person it's coming from.

- He harbors a lot of qualities he despises, namely a short temper, that he wants to move past because they remind him of his father..

- He lives at home with his father, but avoids going home as much as he can so he doesn't have to deal with his father. Instead, he managews the underground live house that his father owns..

- At this point, he's not part of a unit. He skips school pretty regularly and doesn't make a point to remember his classmates' names or faces.

- He picks up smoking in his second year to keep himself busy and sort of buzz his mind a bit to distract himself from how he feels. He tries to drop this later (and is unsuccessful for quite some time).
